I made this mix for choc_fic's 100 Days of Color--February 6th entry. I wanted to do something fannish for Vanessa because I'm sick of all the hate. Haters to the left! I love her (could it be because of Jessica Szhor? Prolly a little...)

These songs trace Vanessa's return to New York and her dreams of being a filmmaker. I was inspired by the book character who allows her heart to be broken for her art (BOOK SPOILER: Vanessa catches Dan cheating on her with a model and instead of getting upset she films it because the moment is tender and unexpected.) In the TV series she goes through something similar when she enters the world of the Upper East Side. At first she wants to objectively film her subjects, but then she quickly becomes entwined in the drama through her friendship with Dan and her relationship with Nate. She loses her naivete, but as season three proves, she still has her goals set high.

I was just going to post the mix with lyrics, but then I had all these random pictures so I thought I'd do a little picspam as well. Also, thank you to my dear nebakanezer for help with the cover. I'm proud of how far I got on my own, but it wouldn't have been half so lovely without her help!

If anyone wants individual songs, let me know, I'm glad to upload them.
